“We have seen this [Bush] administration promote immunity over accountability, secrecy over responsiveness to congressional oversight, and unilateral power over checks and balances that have defined this nation and protected American’s rights and freedom for more than two centuries. …  The administration has compounded its lawlessness by cloaking its policies and miscalculations under the veil of secrecy.” -Vermont Senator Leahy: Verbatim-Voting no on Mukasey; Rutland Herald , November 3, 2007.

ALERT! WARNING!  In Black's Law dictionary (6th Ed.) the word Sovereignty is defined as "... The power to do everything in a state without accountability,- to make laws, to execute and to apply them, to impose and collect taxes and levy contributions, to make war or peace, to form treaties of alliance or of commerce with foreign nations, and the like."

"The Baathis [Party] were political and unaccountable to anyone".  -Saddam's Secrets, Iraqi General Georges Sada; pg 194

"I listened intently to President Bush's State of the Union speech. Frankly, I had a hard time understanding what country he was talking about, what reality he was talking about. Certainly, if the "state of the union" refers to what is happening to the shrinking middle class of this country, and how we as a people are doing, the president had almost nothing to say that rang true. In fact, the speech just reminds us once again how far removed from the reality of ordinary life this president is, and how little he and his administration know about what is going on with the vast majority of Americans." -Bernie Sanders, Vermont Senator 01-31-08

United Steelworkers Associate Member Program:  “The Bush tax cuts have gutted our nation’s treasury.  The phony promise of jobs is routinely used to obliterate our precious environmental laws. And peoples’ fears about national security are shamelessly used to turn us against each other.”

On my (Thomas Millington) flight aboard Northwest Airlines in November 2002, an article in their Sky Mall Magazine revealed that the American Nation was one of only a couple nations in the world who by the stroke of a pen could change an entire culture. Surely this is NOT our Amrican heritage!!!

At the world social Forum in Brazil, the Indian writer Arundhati Roy spoke on "How to confront Empire?".  "Does 'Empire' mean the U.S. Government (and its European satellites), the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, The World Trade Organization, and multinational corporations?  Or is it something more than that?  In many countries, Empire has sprouted... some dangerous byproducts- nationalism, religious bigotry, fascism and, of course terrorism.  All these march arm in arm with the project of corporate globalization. Introduction to "Selling US Wars" (March 2007)
This excerpt from the book “Selling US Wars” by Tariq Ali analyzes the theories and mechanisms employed by the US to “ensure indirect domination” worldwide. One of the justifications the US gives for the extension of its sphere of influence is the “global war on terror,” which the author states is an unacceptable form of “political violence terror.” Ali also asserts that Washington’s selectivity in enforcing the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty is another tactic in its pursuit of regional and global ambitions. Moreover, the author criticizes the use of “humanitarian intervention” and “democratization” as reasons for military invasions. (Transnational Institute)

"During the past several decades, the trend in American life and politics has been adverse to just about everything needed to sustain American liberty. In our intellectual life, we have embraced theories and concepts that are simply incompatible with the ideas of human equality and inalienable rights that shaped our institutions of self-government. In the moral realm, we have legitimized attitudes and practices incompatible with the self-reliance and self-discipline that make limited government practicable. We have lived with policies on taxation and our economic life that destroy the rights, self-sufficiency, and initiative of the people. We have thoughtlessly adopted--and allowed our elites to implement--an understanding of political life that destructively erodes the sovereignty of the people. ... I hope that by the end of this effort, those like myself who deeply cherish the hope for humanity America is supposed to represent will be moved to view the 2008 election with the same sense of urgent foreboding that I do. I hope they will realize that the American people must create and seize the opportunity to break free from the grip of the ambitious, self-serving elites who have been manipulating them toward destruction. ...We must find a voice that can rally us to implement the vision of restored faith, self-discipline, and self-government that alone can save our sovereign constitutional power and America's identity as the land of the free."   -Alan Keyes, Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations

"Although the history of the human rights movement has been one overcoming serious obstacles, the threat we face today is unprecedented in its potential to roll back the last 50 years of progress in human rights. Sadly, challenges to core human rights principles have found strong and dangerous expression right here in the United States- at the very highest levels of our government."  Larry Cox, Executive Director; February 2007 letter     www.amnestyusa.org

"We need only look at the political debate in our country today to appreciate Einstein's insight [We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.]. Republican and Democratic politicians point fingers at each other while proposing much the same policies. Neither party has a vision of actions that will change the tide." Jurriaan Kamp, Publisher and Editor Ode Magazine

"With the approach of midterm elections, there is justified alarm about how easy it is to hack electronic voting machines and that in many states these machines have no paper trail.   While it is heartening to see the increased focus on the vulnerabilities and flaws of these machines, these are not not the only problems that cry out for reform. What about voting districts that are rigged to be uncompetitive? What about loopholes in campaign finance law that give corporations huge influence over legislation? What about partisan secretaries of state who decide who can vote and which votes will be counted? What about modern-day Jim Crow laws and tactics that suppress the vote?" The Nation, November 20, 2006; page 3.   www.thenation.com

“[Or will [America] see a complete takeover of our government by the most radical wing of the Liberal Left… which is waging war against our freedom by creating a cradle-to-grave government society?”  Grover Norquist, Americans for Tax Reform

“I became convinced that our current tax code is not only broken, but could not be fixed in the current environment of lobbyist favor for special interests.”  -Wayne Angell, former Federal Reserve Board Governor (1986-1994);  Americans For Fair Taxation

"He (former President Bill Clinton) also remains a major threat to America's sovereignty and security. (And God help us if he is ever named Secretary-General of the United Nations!)  -LTCOL Oliver L. North USMC (RET.) www.freedomalliance.org

"For a decade I have watched with growing apprehension, the rise to real political influence in our country of a genuinely radical movement known as the religious right wing. This movement, whose lead organization calls itself the Christian Coalition, has a militant ideology-one that encourages deep hostilities towards those who disagree with its agenda." -- Walter Cronkite (former CBS anchorman); What's Wrong With The Christian Right?, by Jan G. Linn  “The Church [of Jesus Christ] knows nothing of any sanctity of war.  War is a struggle for life using dehumanized means.  The Church that prays to our Father yields to God only for peace."  -Dietrich Bonhoeffer (Murdered by Hitler’s regime for his stand against him).

Forum: With the stroke of a pen we lost our liberty “The Constitution of the United States, signed 220 years ago on Sept. 17, 1787, hand-written on four sheets of parchment… was designed to protect the people from the tyranny government could impose. …On Oct. 23, 2001… The Patriot Act was born.  The 300-plus pages of the Act changed our nation from a constitutional republic to a fascist state.  One stroke of the president’s pen and we lost our liberty.” The Burlington Free Press, October 5, 2007, Page 9A

“One cannot be for border security and vote Republican.” said NVC Director of Operations Tom Kovach (Former Staff Sergeant, USAF). “I'll stand up for the candidate who stands up for America. It looks like that candidate will need to come from a party other than the Big Two, because they've both sold our country down the river, specifically, the Rio Grande. Who will stand with me?”

MILITARY: Mikey Weinstein has a battle plan: "We're going to go into a court of law and lay down our own withering field of fire and leave sucking chest wounds on this unconstitutional heart of darkness that has swept through our Pentagon and our military like a fascistic contagion, turning the Pentagon into the 'Pentacostal-gon.'"  Said George Washington in his Farewell Address: Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence (I conjure you to believe me, fellow citizens) the jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake, since history and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of republican government…”  The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations is in extending our commercial relations, to have with them as little political connection as possible.” WE HOLD THESE TRUTHS …An Anthropology of the Faith and Courage of Our Forefathers, compiled by Francis R. "But not only does the Capitol Visitor Center [now open 2010] censor God and religion from America's history but it also contains basic historical errors about the war of 1812, the Bill of Rights, the constitutional separation of powers, and many other simple topics." -David Barton www.wallbuilders.com (To see an 8-minute presentation on the problems in the Visitor Center, see "The War on God in America.")

"Ideology- the manmade formulations and doctrines of modern politics- is the enemy of the Gospel. ... Republicans and Democrats today engage in partisan warfare supposedly between conservatives and liberals, but these labels have largely lost their historic meaning. ... Christians must never allow ourselves to be put in the hip pocket of any political party or ideological movement."  Jubilee, July '08; -Chuck Colson

Does the present American Government at both Federal and State level truly reflect (represent) the common, natural, indigenous people, and it's original foundation: i.e. (7th)President  Andrew Jackson, June 8, 1845, asserted: "The Bible is the Rock on which our Republic (emphasis added) rests."?  Does it have integrity in adhering to morals and basic life principles?   Minds of Men and "Law"

True Servant- Master Relationship

"According to a report from U.S. Comptroller General David M. Walker, nobody knows where the money goes. The books at the Pentagon are so bad, the report says, that they can't be audited. In fact, the U.S. government as a whole cannot produce an auditable consolidated financial statement. Too many agencies can't prove what they've done with billions we've entrusted them." -Glen Cheney; Vermont Rutland Herald, April 3, 2005

"About Social Security’s future... Social Security is a compact between generations. Since 1935, America has kept the promise of security for its workers and their families. Now, however, the Social Security system is facing serious financial problems (emphasis added), and action is needed soon to make sure the system will be sound when today’s younger workers are ready for retirement." -Social Security Administration (2010)

"The Peterson Institute estimates that the U.S. Government's programs for Social Security and health care are already $43 trillion in the hole. To cover this, the government would have to eliminate virtually all other spending and/or jack up tax rates into the 70 percent range." -Newsweek, 3-08-10; Defusing the Debt Bomb

Article: Aviation Under Pressure- Security versus freedom- "The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its Transportation Security Administration (TSA) crossed the cost-versus-benefit threshold... Requiring separate review and authority for every single flight that included passengers, the Large Aircraft Security Program (LASP) would impose governmental review and authority before U.S. citizens could operate their own personal vehicles." -Tom Poberezny, President Experimental Aircraft Association; Sport Pilot, March 2009

"The tax code exceeds 5 million words. The IRS often orders taxpayers to pay taxes not owed or doesn’t give credit for taxes paid. Total taxpayer cost of IRS system: $232.6 billion every year."  -National Taxpayers Union

"Local governments are multiplying like rabbits, at the rate of one new entity per day.  They operate the schools our children attend, determine the uses of our property, and tax us at a higher rate than the national government. ...As tyrannical state leaders violate liberty in the name of 'states rights', we discover that coined that term had it all wrong. States do not have rights.  People have rights.  And the purpose of federalism is to protect those rights. ... The odds are further stacked by the politicians' ability to use their citizens' tax dollars against them... they [people] often encounter court systems that indulge ever presumption in favor of local government."  - Clint Bolick, Leviathan: The growth of Local Government (leviathan being a monster; immense power); www.hoover.org

Our entire financial system is based on an illusion, with a foundation built on quicksand.  We spend more than we earn, we consume more than we produce, we borrow more than we save – and we cling to the fantasy that this can go on forever.  The glue that holds this crumbling scheme together is a fiat currency called the Federal Reserve Note, created out of thin air by an international banking cartel called the Federal Reserve.  Since a ‘note’ is a debt, this leaves us with an obvious problem –WE HAVE NO MONEY!” Chuck Baldwin

"In Bad Money, Kevin Phillips, a former White House strategist, focuses more closely on Big Business, revealing in greater detail how the financial sector- with the help from the government- has hijacked our economy and put America's global future at risk."  -History Book Club review

"The globalization policies of Presidents George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush collectively constitute the worst economic policy mistake in American history. Their policies have enabled leaders of transnational companies and global finance to enrich themselves and advance their interests at the expense of the larger society.... The challenge we face is to institute a new approach to globalization that will create a broad-based prosperity with stability and economic justice, sovereignty with vision, and security with peace, while not endangering the conditions that allow life on Earth." - Dangerous Business, by Pat Choate; offered by History Book Club, September, 2008

The New York Times  recently printed an article entitled “Inmate Count in U.S. Dwarfs Other Nations’.” And they’re not exaggerating when they use the word “dwarfs.” The United States “has less than 5 percent of the world’s population. But it has almost a quarter of the world’s prisoners.  More on Prisons

On November 20, 2007, Phyllis Bennis presented a lecture about THE AMERICAN EMPIRE at St. Michael's College in Colchester, Vermont. The empire is a series of 750 to 1,000 U.S. military outposts around the globe to ensure the friendliness of host nations to American Big Business. The latest armed outposts are under construction in Iraq, with 4 Burlington, VT-sized fortresses supporting 10 smaller bases throughout Iraq. "Does this sound like the work of a government who is intending to pack up and leave? I don't think so," she exclaimed. Ms. Bennis is a widely acclaimed Middle East expert at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, DC. It appears that this is the reality behind Bush's never-ending claim of bringing Democracy to Iraq. Needless to say, Republicans and Democrats support this American imperialism as if they were one party. Ms. Bennis "sees little hope in any political shuffles" in November 2008.

Commentary: America's monetary system changed for the worst in 1913 with the Federal Reserve Act. This new money, now created out of thin air, is the (evil) catalyst for funding unlimited growth of the empire. Staggering national debt keeps American citizens in perpetual slavery. It is written: "The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower becomes the lender's slave."  -Proverbs 22:7 NA  Money

"Using words like 'sluggish' and 'deteriorated,' Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke gave a starkly pessimistic assessment of the nation's economy..."  -Burlington Free Press 2-15-08
